You know the cool girl at the coffee shop? The one with the vintage leather jacket, the jewel-encrusted ear cuff and the i-woke-up-like-this hair? Yeah, we just figured out where she lives (well…kind of). We’re betting she’s the resident of a condo designed by the rockin’ Cali-native (/ cool girl herself), Jessica Rae Sommer.

A variety of textures and finishes was important in making the look feel custom and layered. Metallic graphic pillows, natural and somewhat earthy materials, mid century modern throwbacks and of course, a bit of brass all play off each other in this dramatic design. Those chairs (please. be. mine. now.). Jessica funks up the walls with her own original artwork. Many of her pieces are available for purchase via online retailer, Saatchi Art and artist platform and e-commerce site, Society6. Peruse her personal website for everything from fashion illustrations to interiors. You can really feel this woman’s energy in every room she designs and in every portrait she paints, right?

“For the furnishings and interior design I was inspired by this hip, edgy vibe of it’s Hollywood location,” Jessica reflects. “I wanted to create a modern, clean space with glamorous accents and a bit of lux grit brought in though the art. The portrait paintings (which are actually my own paintings!) fit perfectly in the space and brought in the bold modern splash that we needed. All in all we accomplished all our goals here- and couldn’t be happier with the results.”
She really went for it with moody tones in the dining alcove– all black saarinen-style tulip table and black panton S chairs. The kitchen offers that clean, crisp feeling with glossy white subway tiles and stainless steel appliances, hardware and hood.

We love the nailhead detail on the headboard and the architectural/ industrial light fixture. The cozy faux fur throw lends some additional warmth to the bedroom! The predominant hue in the room is this muted, moody gray, which offers up a fantastic backdrop for the metallic embroidery of the pillows and the mirrored base of the lamps.
