Keeping up with trends, whether in fashion or home decor, can be tough on the bank account. Luckily, it’s possible to incorporate your favorite on-trend home design elements, regardless of your budget. We’re here to help you discover how to add your favorite trends to your home, using three different example budgets. Today’s featured trend: Hygge.

Hygge is the Scandinavian trend where comfort is king. Combined with the Havenly color of the year, Juniper Isle, it is positively drool-worthy. Below, explore three different looks combining Hygge and Juniper Isle, each with a different budget. Keep in mind that these budgets are based on a room design starting from scratch, so if you have existing pieces you can easily do this for less!

$10,000 budget (Total cost $9,755)

We understand that this budget may be a bit lofty for some, but a larger budget like this would definitely allow for some splurge-worthy purchases and high-end furniture investments sure to last for years to come.  To achieve this textured, cozy hygge look, we sourced custom draperies, framed and matted artwork, high-quality upholstery, and statement pieces like the sculptural chandelier.  We love that a design like this doesn’t feel like it is straight out of a catalog, and that each piece feels carefully curated.  Did we mention that it’s almost tax refund season?  ‘Tis the season to #treatyourself

$5,000 budget (total cost $3,899)

With a mid-range budget of $5,000, it’s important to find a balance of knowing where to save and also allowing yourself to splurge on a few key pieces.  By investing in larger, high-use items like the sofa and coffee table, but searching for bargains on lighting, draperies and accent furniture, you’ll be sure to create a design that is versatile and able to adapt to the trends. By keeping the larger pieces but swapping out the pillows and rug, you can easily (and affordably!) go from hygge to the next big trend.

$2,500 Budget ($2,306)

$2,500 for a full living room design is a bit of a design challenge, but this design is proof that it is possible to create a lovely, complete design without breaking the bank!  When designing a full living room on a budget, we recommend opting for quick-ship furniture options instead of custom upholstery, multi-purpose pieces like indoor/outdoor rugs, and one large canvas-wrapped piece of art as the focal point instead of a series of framed artwork. These options are typically less expensive than their custom counterparts, plus can easily be used in other rooms if you ever feel like switching up your look.  With textured accents and a comfy Juniper Isle sofa, this design makes $2,500 go a long way.
