Are you ready for the royal wedding? We’ve been doing comprehensive research this whole week, so we are ready to go Saturday morning. One interesting tidbit we’ve learned is that Meghan and Harry will be moving in next door to Will and Kate at Kensington Palace. The compound has several cottages, and the newly married couple are heading to a grand apartment that has 21 rooms. That stretches the definition of “apartment” in our books, but whatever.

Apparently their new home is still under renovation. But, since interior design is our specialty, we mocked up a space we think both Meghan and Harry will love. (Call us, guys!)

Shelby, our head of design started with a traditional space. Wainscoting lines the bottom half of the walls, and formal crown molding tops it all off. Woodwork frames a sophisticated wallpaper, serving as the perfect backdrop for plenty of classical oil paintings. While the paintings featured in Shelby’s design are available at One King’s Lane, we imagine the Windsors have plenty of alternative options.

While the trim-work is pure royalty, the furnishings of Shelby’s design pull cues from Meghan’s relaxed, Californian style. That girl loves neutrals. So, we created a sophisticated and neutral color palette. The sofa, in Belgian Linen is luxurious but relaxed. The leather occasion chair is tufted and classically British, but feels a bit weathered and worn-in. But, we couldn’t let this opportunity pass to inject a little Hollywood glam into the room (it’s almost….a metaphor). The gold chandelier is understated but luxe, while the burl coffee table is straight out of the Hollywood regency.

Neutral accessories establish rich texture and pattern. Pillows in marble and animal prints, a rug in a faded turkish design, and even a marble horse head. This is probably the best combo of traditional and modern we’ve seen in a while.

You might even say it’s fit for royalty!
