We shared one of our recent room\u00a0designs– a stylish baby boy nursery<\/a> with southwestern influences–\u00a0a few weeks back. \u00a0The team absolutely loved working with this particular design-savvy client and were beyond thrilled when she invited us back to design a second room for her family– a big girl bedroom for her (nearly) 3 year old daughter.<\/p>\n

WHO:<\/strong> \u00a0Leslie P., art & design aficionado, Smithsonian Alum, Wife and Mother of two in Houston, Texas<\/a>. \u00a0Tour her first Havenly room (a baby boy nursery) here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

WHERE:<\/strong> \u00a0A brand new craftsman-style family home in popular & artsy Houston, Texas<\/a> neighborhood, the Woodland Heights.<\/p>\n

WHAT SHE WANTED:<\/strong> \u00a0Leslie and her family were on the cusp of a move to their beautiful new home. \u00a0With the desire to utilize a number of items from their former household, Leslie called upon Havenly\u00a0to help pull the disparate pieces together to form a more cohesive look. \u00a0She promised her daughter that this new bedroom design would honor her #1 love– the color pink.<\/p>\n

“Our daughter’s absolutely favorite color is pink, pink, pink,” lamented Leslie. \u00a0“I’ll give it to you straight- I am NOT a pink person. Finding a way to\u00a0design an\u00a0almost all pink everything big girl room in a way that would delight her\/not visually assault me on the daily was the greatest challenge presented going into this project.”<\/p>\n

WHAT SHE HAD:<\/strong> \u00a0Leslie’s previously purchased furnishings\u00a0that would be incorporated into her new design are as follows: \u00a0a pair of Lou Lou Ghost\u00a0Chairs,\u00a0the mustard yellow velvet tufted bench, the white + black IKEA hacked dresser, the Gray Malin photograph, and the 3 lamps featured in the design. \u00a0Being the prudent mother she is, Leslie also snagged the adorable luxe-for-less pink and white gingham bedding during a recent trip to Ikea.<\/p>\n

WHAT SHE GOT: \u00a0<\/strong>Two versions of an adorable little girl’s room design…featuring the pink walls, pink bedding and other items the family already owned.<\/p>\n

A clear winner? \u00a0For us, it was Concept #1. \u00a0The introduction\u00a0of this particular statement-making\u00a0rug\u00a0gave our client’s previously\u00a0owned furnishings\u00a0new life! \u00a0We decided to juxtapose the sweet pink with some tougher elements….the black iron canopy bed, the skull & horns, and the choice of blue and green as accent colors (as opposed to yellow and more pink in Concept #2’s rug).<\/p>\n

Leslie’s reaction? \u00a0We’re 2 for 2– she loved this design as much as her nursery<\/a>!<\/p>\n

“My favorite element in the room is the drapery.\u00a0I just can’t get enough of that pom pom trim.\u00a0All credit goes to our designer!\u00a0Her the idea\u00a0to hang four panels (as opposed to\u00a0only two) to create a very full and luxurious look surprised\u00a0me in the best way possible.\u00a0Guests in our home are always immediately drawn to this high impact\u00a0treatment of the windows. \u00a0My daughter’s favorite element in the room is\u00a0her new canopy bed. I’ve joked that it is only a matter of time until she figures out I placed a pea beneath the mattress.”<\/p>\n

\u00a0The Real Deal:<\/strong> \u00a0Our favorite part….a tour of the truly adorable child’s bedroom we designed with our client. \u00a0\"A<\/a><\/p>\n

Final Words from Leslie:<\/strong> \u00a0“I\u00a0am thrilled we were able to seamlessly\u00a0incorporate a number of pieces from my daughter’s nursery and from our personal “archives” (AKA the attic)\u00a0into her big girl room. \u00a0Thanks to Shelby’s guidance I was able to step out of my comfort zone and embrace a new color palette for the room.”<\/p>\n
