A whimsical, abstract painting, "Tethered" is inspired by warm, August afternoons, fiery west coast sunsets, and the lingering memory of summer love. Sunny yellow, deep blues, and soft, melon hues mingle with touches of black in a happy dance sure to add a wink of color to any space. "Tethered" part of a series of meditational, abstract watercolors created by the artist in August 2014.

Kaleidoscope No 1 - 18" x 24" - Framed

This summer (2015), I participated in a 100 Day Project challenge online. I painted 1 painting per day for 100 days, each one under 20 minutes. Day 89 was painted on watercolor paper with acrylic, chalk and found paper. The result is a fun, playful collage. I'm a contemporary abstract painter but recently have had a hiatus from painting for a couple years while having and caring for my son. This was the perfect project to get back in the swing of things and have fun and improvise. I mainly work in abstraction and like to experiment with different styles.

This piece is an extension of the movement series and a continuation of my love of rich navy and teal. Through the placement of layers and color, I was able to create a simple piece with a big impact. The movement draws you in as you inspect each lovely spec, swirling and rising, up and up.
