Description
From the beloved A la Plage series, this stunning piece serves as an ode to an everlasting summer, with a bird's-eye view of tropical hues and sandy shores of St. Barths. As a young child living in Dallas, Texas, Gray Malin accompanied his mother as she scouted locations and oversaw interior design photoshoots for fashion and lifestyle magazines. As he quietly did homework in the corners of these elaborate sets, Mr. Malin was actively absorbing his surroundings, and developing a keen awareness for the way these spaces looked, felt, and behaved. Though at the time they may have seemed extra-curricular, these experiences laid the groundwork for an avid, illustrious career as a lifestyle photographer, with a focus on capturing scenes that elevate the home and lift the spirit. From the unexpected delight of llamas wearing balloons on Bolivian salt flats, to the elaborate geometry of his signature, aerially shot beach scenes, Mr. Malin's iconic photography has undeniably contributed to the shape and canon of modern art in the digital age.
