Summer is all about the outdoors — Barbecues, baseball games and pool parties galore. However, not all of us have the same energy levels we had when we were twelve. So when it comes time for a little summertime R&R, we like to make sure our interiors help us relax while still reflecting the spirit of the season. We’ve pulled together a few tips for achieving a summertime oasis, right in your own home.

5 Ways To Decorate For Summer

1. Let In The Light

Remove those heavy drapes and replace them with something light and airy so the sun hits a soft filter without getting completely blocked. Our mantra for setting the scene of a soothing space? Natural light, natural light, natural light.

2. Keep It Neutral, With A Twist

We love color, but when it comes to creating a serene setting to reenergize this summer we’d suggest starting with a neutral palette of bright whites and creams. These colors will reflect light naturally, helping your space seem more bright and open. Even better, they allow you to add a twist with fun pops of bright accents without letting the color become overwhelming.

3. Let Them Lounge

Create spaces for easy relaxation. Whether it’s a daybed, a pile of floor pillows or a hanging chair, make sure your summer oasis has plenty of places for lounging.

4. Serve With Style

Whether you prefer to sip on mint juleps or sangria, serve yourself in style. Find a white tray and fill it with colorful glasses and drink accessories (aka umbrellas). Summertime R&R usually requires a cocktail or two, at least in our book, so why not make it special while you’re at it?

5. Finish It With Fresh Flowers

Bring a little of the outdoors in with fresh flowers and plants. Fill a corner with a large floor plant (find your favorite here) and pull out a few small vases to display your favorite blooms. There’s nothing as serene as a little bit of green.

With these tips, you’ll be ready to tackle summer with style. Whether you need to recharge before the next soccer game or unwind after a family reunion, your space can handle it.
