Repeat after us: Whether you rent or own, you deserve to love your home. Rolls right off the tongue, doesn’t it? Yet many renters let misconceptions about interior design prevent them from designing a rental home that’s uniquely theirs. At Havenly, it’s our mission to dispel those notions.

When Havenly client Megan Y. set out to decorate her Chicago apartment, she was initially a bit skeptical:

“I thought I would never be able to use an interior designer until I actually bought a home.”

But after we paired her with designer Megan G., she was convinced that having an apartment she would be proud to call home could be a reality.

The First Design Concept

We love to hear the attention to personality in the design notes from Megan’s designer: “For concept 1, I gave you an overall brighter color palette. To me, this concept leans more heavily to your adventurous side. The art in this room is a couple of larger pieces, like we discussed. ”

The Second Concept

This concept continues to draw on the sea foam green and blue tinted accent wall colors. Designer Megan G. noted, “I used a more neutral color scheme, with more of a powder blue color rather than the minty green. I noticed this color used often in your inspiration photos!”

So far, Megan Y. was enjoying the design collaboration: “I LOVE the concepts you put together – they are great and really align with the vision I have for my apartment!”

In the rendering phase of the Havenly process, these color considerations will be taken a step further by being applied to the walls.

The Room Renderings

Megan Y. loved the teal velvet chairs in the first concept, so those were easy choices when designing the final rendering. The mirrored buffet, dining table and bar stools were a few of the other items on her must-have list. At this stage, the room rendering really starts highlight the transformation from rental apartment to dream space. After a few more styling and sourcing considerations, the design pair were ready to make the dream a reality.
