Today we take a peek into a stylish den of productivity: the office of fashion blogger Natalie P., one half of The Fashionably Broke, a Washington, DC-based life and style blog.
Natalie wanted to convert her neglected second bedroom into an office where she and her boyfriend could maximize productivity and allow her to run her growing blog in a calm, stylish environment.
Natalie had some practical issues she needed to solve. First, she needed functional, stylish storage solutions for quite a lot of books as well as her boyfriend’s handsome yet bulky bicycles. Plus, she wanted to ensure the media console would hide all the wires.
Her designer, Amy, created two beautiful concepts that are Bohemian yet modern, with a black, white, and taupe color palette that’s anything but boring.
On the walls are black-and-white modern art, and the West Elm tribal rug really pulls the space together.
Havenly works with clients to incorporate existing furniture – Natalie kept her cute white Moroccan pouf and added some tribal throw pillows for additional Bohemian vibes. But, she swapped out a white shabby chic desk for a Parsons desk and a leopard chair for a modern, minimal white one, giving it a sophisticated, clean vibe.
Here’s how Natalie describes the situation: “Before working with Havenly my office used to be my least favorite room in the house and now it’s my favorite. My Havenly designer helped me through the decision making process (which was holding me back for almost two years of living in our condo) and brought my vision to life with just a few simple updates to the room. I love going into my office now (which has also really helped with productivity)!”
