We love helping people discover things they like. Whether it’s something they thought might have been outside of their comfort zone or something that simply hadn’t been on their radar, the element of surprise can be great thing!
Case in point: Holly F. – a lady who knows what she likes. When Holly moved with her husband from San Francisco to New Orleans, she knew that she wanted the charm of an older home without all of those charming, creaking, leaking quirks that typically come along with an old building. So the couple scooped up a charismatic, newly-built home in the Uptown neighborhood. Located right in the heart of Mardi Gras parade action, their home would serve as a hidden refuge amongst a sea of celebrations.
With busy work schedules, Holly and her husband really needed a calming refuge. And they needed it fast. After being paired with Havenly designer Julianne C., the design process got started!
In the room renderings, Julianne wove a faux cow hide rug into a more traditionally-styled living room. Holly’s response: “I LOVE this final design! That darker rug works! I would have never picked that out myself.”
The master bedroom and guest bedroom were works in progress – perfect candidates for a Havenly mini. Rather than composing an entire room rendering, the Mini room refresh allowed Julianne to provide Holly with expert guidance without going overboard. It was also a great opportunity to push the design boundaries of what the home owners might have considered otherwise. After seeing the master bedroom’s concept, Holly said: “Those curtains, again, I never would have picked these but they work. I love that you added some soft details. Overall, A++!”
In New Orleans, and especially during Mardi Gras, a great outdoor entertaining area is a very special thing. Holly and Julianne saw huge potential in the barren backyard patio. Once again, Julianne’s work did not disappoint.
“I think it all came together beautifully! I really love what you did with the covered patio. It’s exactly as I envisioned it… People are immediately drawn to that space when they walk into the house.”
A lovely home for a wonderful lady in a fabulous city – what more could we ask for?! We’ll let Holly have the final say, “Bottom line – you guys saved me time and money. The house is the last thing on my mind now when I walk through the door… Everything has its place. We only see things we love. It feels like home because it is.”
