If there’s one thing that we’ve learned throughout the years, it’s that quality décor items can be incredibly expensive–especially if you hoard décor like I do! Here at Havenly, we’re always in search of the best accessories for our clients, which is why we have come up with four simple ways to spruce up your pad without draining your wallet.

1. Make consignment stores and estate sales your new go-to decór shops. I have to admit, before entering the real world as a young professional, I thought consignment stores were a waste of retail space. I never fully grasped the concept of vintage decór until just recently, when my girlfriends and I wandered into the most beautiful consignment store that I have ever seen. The vintage store was decorated to the nines, and filled with beautiful wares. While it does take some patience to sift through all of the clutter, it’s truly worth the time investment—especially since the majority of the items are so reasonably priced. I advise to search for decadent brass accessories, antique bed frames, and armoires–and remember, you can always restore the color of wooden items with a little paint.

2. Opt for the minimalist look. Create a minimalist look by limiting the amount of accessories you use around the house. Instead of a fully-stacked bookshelf, try filling the shelves with pottery. It will make the space look more sophisticated and organized, without making your shelves look too bare.

3. Splurge on the essentials. When you’re decorating your home on a budget, there tends to be less leeway when splurging on high-end décor. Many of us tend to buy more accessories for our coffee tables, but always forget about the more important pieces that help complete a space. Try investing in a beautiful rug that matches your aesthetic, decadent light fixtures, or fashionable throw pillows instead of smaller accessories. We know of some people who can help complete the job.

4. Don’t be shy of a little color. If you’ve been keeping up with our Instagram feed lately, then you probably notice our love for statement walls. Painting a bright hue on the wall, or even using a bold wallpaper, is a quick way to change up the look and feel of your space, without breaking the bank.
