I was first introduced to Jeffrey Alan Marks via the Fall Design Market in Houston, Texas (I’d never seen Bravo’s Million Dollar Decorators before– the shame!).  He spoke on a panel with fellow design luminaries, Suzanne Kasler and Tom Scheerer.  Let me just say– the man has swagger!  Fortunately for his clients (and now EVERYONE with the release of his new book), he also has incredible talent.

What’s that you say?  Million Dollar Decorator not exactly in the budget?  JAM has some advice on that front (via this 2012 interview):

” If you can’t have a dream house, have a dream corner.  Start with a good sofa.  The big stuff is always important, and then you can get accessories anywhere on a budget.  I love West Elm.”

Ditto.  We love West Elm.  We love Mr. Jeffrey Alan Marks.  And we majorly love this blue & green dining room….

This.  Dining.  Room.  Is.  Our.  JAM.

So you are now fully aware of our design crush on Mr. Jeffrey Alan Marks (he put a canoe on a bedroom ceiling for God’s sake!). You also know of our master plan to clone all of our favorite designers (a la Emily Henderson) to help us all achieve a JAM-worthy look.  Until then, in true Get The Look fashion, we’ve done the hard part for you!  You can get the look of this JAMalicious dining room here:

Warning: that beautiful beautiful rug will cost you more than any other piece in that room!  If you’re keen to save some money while still achieving some semblance of this look, swap it out for this cobalt greek key rug .  If you really want to keep the blue and green in there, this diamond ikat number could work as well (though it’s a little more subdued so the overall look will be a bit softer).  We’ve also included a pedestal with a DIY splash of paint in Benjamin Moore Brilliant Blue (come on, you can do it!).  And those Ethan Allen chairs are customizable in a wide array of fabrics and leathers!

Jeffrey — being the wizard that he is– sources awesomely unique pieces in his designs (many antiques, custom-made pieces and those signature embroidered drapes– TDF!).  A room of this nature is tough to replicate utilizing retail items!  However, if you want to bring the JAM look to your own home (without a “designer antiques from France” budget) , we’ll help you get there.

GTL_JAMHave you picked up your copy of The Meaning of Home?  If you haven’t, don’t worry– you’re in luck.  We’ll announce an awesome giveaway this coming Monday that you wont want to miss (hint hint).

Stay tuned!
