You could say that spring is off to a non-traditional start. If you’ve transitioned to working remotely, as we have at the Havenly HQ, you’re probably wondering how to make create a home office space that’s functional and inviting. Whether you’re posted up at a makeshift desk or have a dedicated home office where you can spread out, we suggest you start reaping the benefits of indoor plants if you aren’t already.

When it comes to choosing indoor plants, advice is in no short supply. Rather than scouring the internet and winding up in a state of decision paralysis, we asked our friends at Bloomscape for help. Bloomscape ships healthy, mature plants and thorough care instructions, making plant parenthood easier than ever. You can order Bloomscape plants directly through Havenly.

After explaining that we wanted a few low maintenance plants, Bloomscape recommended three absolutely stunning varieties. We were practically counting down the minutes until we could open the boxes.

Bloomscape describes the Philodendron Brasil as “incredibly forgiving.” This plant thrives in low light environments and without much water. It’s a great starter option for those who struggle to keep their plants alive. But when you show your Philodendron Brasil some TLC, it grows long, meandering vines.

We were instantly attracted to the Dracaena Marginata’s height and open braid weave. Plus, the perky green leaves add wonderful texture to any space–like this airy Boho Coastal living room by Havenly Designer Sophia Venturo.

If you’re in the market for more than one green friend, consider plants of various heights. This way, you have the flexibility to move them throughout your office and keep things feeling fresh. And speaking of fresh, according to Bloomscape, NASA recognizes the Dracaena Marginata as an excellent plant for removing harmful chemicals from the air.

The Sansevieria, commonly referred to as a snake plant, is very adaptable. It thrives in low light but can handle bright sun, too.

Bloomscape feels the Sansevieria a natural addition to any modern or contemporary office design, and we agree! Like the Dracaena Marginata, snake plants purify the air by removing toxins like formaldehyde and benzene. Because they release oxygen in the evening, it also makes sense to place one in your bedroom or entryway.

Take Havenly’s style quiz, select the spaces that make your heart race, and we’ll point you toward your perfect interior design style.
