Here’s to the final installment of the Southern Living’s Most Stylish 75 Series (no, we are not creating rooms for all 75 featured– you’re welcome, Shelby!)! Did you catch the first two? In Part I we featured celeb chef Hugh Acheson. In Part II, Ronnie Rashon Carraway was our stylish southern inspiration. We’ve loved exploring the sartorial persuasions of each and every one of the 75…many to whom we were introduced for the first time (thank you, SL!)! We featured a chef and an interior designer/ e-boutique proprietor, but we truly just brushed the surface.
“From forward-thinking shop owners to nationally-recognized designers, we rounded up 75 of the best-dressed entrepreneurs living in the south. Here they sum up all that’s to love about Southern style now.” – from Southern Living
Havenly’s muse for the final room design? None other than singer/ songwriter, Miss Valerie June!
Though she released her first album as a signed artist to UK label Sunday Best and to US label Concord Music Group within the past couple of years, Tennessee native Valerie June has been releasing albums (one funded by Kickstarter!) and performing ever since she was 19 years old. Her father worked as a promoter for gospel singers in addition to the likes of some eventually well-known artists including Prince, Bobby Womack, and KCi and Jojo.
We get it. She’s insanely talented and music runs deep in her veins. What about her sense of style?

From Southern Living: “Much like folks from France, I find Southerners really care about how they look. We can wear an old rag and make it look like a brand-new purchase because of the way we carry ourselves. We’re just as confident in a pair of overalls as we are in our Sunday best.”
Inspired by Miss June’s je ne sais quoi, our Director of Design, Shelby Girard summoned up her vision of a room fit for this red-rocking songstress:

I think the Ro Sham Beaux table lamps from Zinc Door are the perfect complement to the punchy Barra Beach scene by Gray Malin. What’s your favorite element? The only missing piece is a revitalized gramophone blasting “Workin’ Woman Blues.” Learn more about our muse and her upcoming tour dates at ValerieJune.com.
