If Kristen Harrsch’s Encino, California home looks like a Pinterest board come to life—that’s because, with the help of her Havenly designer, Stacy Harwood, it basically is.

We’ve all been there, compiling photographs of dream spaces on our monitor, unsure of how to translate it to the home we’re in. When Kristen and her husband moved into their airy, laidback home, they were starting from scratch. With beautiful bones like cathedral ceilings with natural-wood beams and one striking adobe fireplace, they had a great blank slate for Stacy to come in and bring Kristen’s vision to life.

“Our home is pretty minimal and clean-looking,” says Kristen. “I don’t like a lot of clutter or color, so this new space brings me so much joy.”

Neutral Palette

The defining feature of Kristen’s home is its rich-but-calming color palette in warm creams and taupes, accented with splashes of sleek black in large-scale art and fixtures and furniture. Natural finishes and soft white walls complement the look.

Depending on the room, the neutral hues play together to create a just-right feeling for each space. In the nursery, that means soft, layered textures and muted patterns, while other bedrooms feel crisp but calm with cool tones and soft textures of their own.

A Great Room

The wide-open main living space looks like the perfect spot for a family—albeit a cool one. Kristen’s minimalist attitude applies here so there’s great flow while still feeling cozy. You’ll see furniture silhouettes in clean lines, but nothing you couldn’t plop down in; and art that offers some intrigue but doesn’t overpower the functionality of a family room. Combined with organic finishes and industrial fixtures, the space feels liveable and beautiful at the same time.

Love Where You Live

“Home is where we create memories with family and where we spend the most time,” says Kristen. “Especially with the pandemic, we live in this home all day, every day, so it was important for us to love the space.

Together with Stacy, Kristen was able to bring her phone saves into her world and apply her and her family’s personalities to create a place that’s uniquely theirs.
