The temperatures are warming up, which means it’s that time of year when rattan comes back. And we’re predicting that it will come back in a BIG way. There are few materials as versatile as rattan, which means it can work in nearly any indoor or outdoor space. Rattan chairs and other rattan furniture is boho chic by nature, but can be worked into many contemporary, coastal, or preppy and glam spaces too.
Between all of the outdoor picnics, soirees, and dinners al fresco already on your summer agenda, you’re bound to cross paths with your share of rattan chairs this spring and summer, whether a wicker armchair or wicker sofa on the porch, or even indoor wicker chairs in a living or dining room. But, we need to know — are rattan chairs actually comfortable?
Havenly Favorites: Rattan Chairs
Surprisingly, woven rattan chairs are more comfortable than they look. Most rattan chairs have minimal cushioning (or sometimes, no cushion at all), but they are formed to cradle your body. (It’s almost like sitting in a chair that was made just for you!) Not only do these chairs look cool, but we think they’ll be in high demand at your next gathering because they are unexpectedly comfortable.
We happen to have a couple of these Tayabas chairs at Havenly HQ, and definitely can’t complain when these seats are open for any of our meetings.
The sculptural frame of this wicker swing chair has a scooped seat that cradles you as you float. Bring us a mojito, and we may never leave this chair.
Let’s be real, Justina Blakeney can do no wrong. If she says this Zahra Peacock chair is comfortable, we know she’s telling the truth.
