Fans of the Netflix hit Selling Sunset know that real estate agent Chelsea Lazkani is all about expressive personal style. The season five addition quickly made a name for herself not only as an accomplished agent, but as a fashion force to be reckoned with.

So when the reality star decided to make over her Manhattan Beach, California living room, she couldn’t wait to bring her bold signature look home. “My design style is luxurious, modern, and a little earthy,” Chelsea tells Havenly. “I love to accessorize with clothing, and with interior design.”

Chelsea ultimately found a design partner in Havenly’s Kelsey Fischer. “Chelsea really wanted to update the space to be a reflection of her personal style — chic, luxe, and eye-catching,” adds Kelsey. “She also has two young kids, so keeping things durable and family-friendly was also top of mind.”

Adding warmth & color

To set the stage for the redesign, Chelsea removed the white and gray accent wallpaper and coated the walls in a warm beige limewash for texture and visual interest. With a primed canvas in place, Kelsey’s design then focused on adding richness, warmth, and sophistication via furnishings and thoughtfully-selected decor.

“The original room was very gray in tone — lots of layered neutral grays with metallic pops of chrome and nickel,” notes Kelsey. The two channeled Chelsea’s personal style and warmed up the color palette in one fell swoop, thanks to the curved, rusty-red statement sofa from Soho Home. “It really anchored the room and added that depth and sophistication we both love.”

A focus on materials

To check the “luxurious” box, Kelsey was very deliberate when choosing accent materials. She expertly mixed richly-veined marble, luxe velvet, raw wood, natural cane, and soft lambskin in the small space to create a layered, sophisticated feel. “The end result is both glamorous and grounded,” notes Kelsey. “The sculptural, rounded elements really balance out the boxy dimensions of the room.”

Keeping it kid-friendly

As a luxury real estate agent and a mother of two little ones, Chelsea is all about balancing personal style with family-friendly design. “You’ll never find furniture coverings in my home — I believe in living with your items,” she notes.

Instead, Kelsey made sure to incorporate discreet kid-friendly details, like closed storage, easy-to-clean surfaces, and dark-toned upholstery to hide smudges and stains. “These design decisions were rooted functionality, but still align with Chelsea’s luxe aesthetic.”

The end result is a living space that effortlessly marries form and function. “I love how aesthetically-pleasing it is,” adds Chelsea. “But it’s just as comfortable and homey.”
