If you’ve ever found yourself overwhelmed by a wall of paint chips or undone by a search for the perfect lamp, this story is for you. Because we all know that while having options is great, having too many choices can paralyze you faster than you can say, “I’ve got 99 tabs open. Where am I again?”
We’re here to help — with the Havenly Design Awards, recognizing excellence in all things home design. No more legwork for you because we’ve done the homework.
Our co-founder and CEO, Lee Mayer, says it best: “From the hundreds of thousands of custom designs we complete every year for our customers, we are able to truly vett what works in America’s homes. We are excited to finally share this wealth of design knowledge with others so they can easily find the best way to create a home they truly love.”
Previously, we shared the Havenly Design Award winners in Best in Furniture and Best in Room Design. In the coming weeks, we’ll reveal who’s taking home the prizes from everything from Best Chandeliers & Pendants, to Best Coffee Table Books, and even our People’s Choice awards spotlighting your fan faves (key an eye on our Instagram to join in on the voting fun).
But today, we’re spotlighting the very Best in Home Brands & Retailers.
Havenly’s worldwide team of designers voted on a small slate of nominees. They considered quality, relevancy, looks, versatility, price and client satisfaction.
“When you work with so many vendors, you start to learn which ones are going to ensure your client is happy,” says Havenly lead designer, Melissa Wagner. “Is the product beautiful? Does the price point work for my clients? Do they have an accommodating return policy? These winners are pretty solid all around.”
Pretty simple, right?
So close all those tabs and focus on this: the Havenly Design Awards for Best in Home Brands and Retailers:
Best for Pillows: Little Design Company
Little Design Company puts a lot of love into their pillows. Linen, velvet and silk. Throw, bolster and lumbar. Solid, striped and safari-printed. LDC does it all.
“Our designers love the quality and options,” Melissa says. “There is nearly something for every style, and their patterned options are classic, timeless and beautiful.”
Runner-Up: Cove Goods — For its mix-and-match collection of solids, statement patterns and dimensional textures that has us piling on the pillows the same way we eat potato chips. We can’t have just one.
Best for Area Rugs: Neva Home
You know what they say: The rug really ties the room together. And Neva Home is the one-stop shop to find the perfect area rug, no matter what you’re hunting for.
“They have every style, size and material option available,” Melissa says. “If you’re looking for a simple jute rug, they’ve got you. Want something luxe constructed with viscose (your bare feet won’t know what hit them), you’ll find it here. Looking for something pretty, but inexpensive, for under your dining table? Look no further.”
Runner-Up: Loma Threads — For coveted Old World-inspired designs that add color, pattern and thoughtful layering to every room.
Best for Decor: CB2
CB2 is the design equivalent of your friend who is always dressed to the nines in the latest trends and fashions. Cool, in vogue, and just a bit edgy.
From small catch-all dishes to oversized vases. From fireplace screens to floor mirrors. CB2 walks the fine line between drama and class, and bonus: always at a great price point.
“Let’s just say the Havenly team is abuzz when a new CB2 catalogue drops,” Melissa says. “Their decor assortments are always fashion-forward, beautiful and of great quality. They often bring new pieces into their collection, and you can find something to make every corner of your home a head turner.”
Runner-Up: Pottery Barn — For its always-on-point array of wall art, candle holders, beaded garlands and more decor that we didn’t know we needed until we saw it.
Best for Lighting: Lamps Plus
Lighting is often the unsung hero in room designs, but it has the power to (quite literally) illuminate a space. Meaning: you need a go-to lighting source.
And the votes are in: Lamps Plus for the win. They’ve got literally everything you could hope to find. Crystal to rattan, chandelier to table lamp… Every shape, size, color and mood. Our designers stand behind it.
Runner-Up: Arlo Home — A Havenly exclusive line, Arlo shows off serious lighting style at budget-friendly prices.
Best for Plants and Flowers: Bloomscape
Even if you don’t have a green thumb, Bloomscape will have you looking like a master gardener.
That’s because Bloomscape, which was founded by a family of greenhouse growers and floral-industry veterans, lets you order gorgeous, live plants for your home — interior or exterior — from the comfort of your laptop. And yes, they have a quality guarantee, which we’re into.
Runner-Up: Fiddle + Bloom — For faux fiddle leaf fig trees, floral arrangements and succulents that look like the real deal.
Best for Curtains: Pottery Barn
When it comes to curtains, Pottery Barn has earned bragging rights through its ongoing commitment to quality materials and classic colors.
Choose your unique combination of length, fabric and hanging style, and voila! Pottery Barn has got your windows covered (pun absolutely intended).
Runner-Up: Anthropologie — For whimsical, patterned window treatments (and many with tassels) that grace your space with a one-of-a-kind aura.
Best for Artwork: Minted
Who doesn’t love art pieces that are special, beautiful and made by hand, not by machine? As a platform for independent artists, Minted is a thoughtfully curated go-to for adding high-quality art to every room.
“We love how Minted highlights their new and diverse group of artists,” Melissa says. “The styles are always fresh and inspiring.”
Runner-Up: Wander Print Co. — For fine-art photos, prints, watercolors and frames that won’t break the bank — making us wish every wall was a gallery wall.
Best for Bohemian Style: Roam Common
Roam Common’s name nods to the globe-trotting curation of artisan-crafted accents and furnishings that cue well-traveled vibes and story-filled homes.
With so many travel plans grounded over the past 18 months, Roam Common’s Moroccan-inspired rugs, cane mirrors and beaded chandeliers may be just the ticket to cure your wanderlust without ever passing through the TSA line.
Runner-Up: Anthropologie — For bedding, pillows and throws that provide the perfect complement to our Anthro embroidered maxi and fisherman sandals.
Best for Scandinavian Style: Haldin
Bring the hygge vibe home with Haldin headboards, seating, lighting and pillows. Their range of warm neutrals dials up all the cozy feels.
BTW: Haldin is the newest line that’s exclusive to Havenly, joining a family of brands that includes fellow Havenly Design Award winners Roam Common, Studio Marcette, and Cove Goods.
Runner-Up: West Elm — For stream-lined benches, bookcases and buffets that combine simplicity with artistry, in true Scandi style.
Best for Glam Style: Studio Marcette
Our designers love to go all in on Studio Marcette and its luxe, sophisticated pieces. And who can blame them?
When Parisian drama meets contemporary style, you can find an intersection of sleek lines and sculptural elements. Rich colors and bold textiles juxtaposed with modern details. The Louvre crossed with the Centre Pompidou.
Studio Marcette creates alluring spaces that are eye-catching, statement-making and more Instagrammable than a pied-a-terre in St-Germain-des-Prés.
Runner-Up: CB2 — For affordable touches of opulence, so we can glam up the living room, the home office, the powder room and and and …
Best for Classic Style: Pottery Barn
Pottery Barn is the classic we’re crushing on. A home brand mainstay that’s furnished first apartments and longtime family homes since 1949. (We didn’t know PB went back that far, either!)
No surprise, then, that the Havenly winner for Best for Curtains also pockets the Havenly for Best for Classic Style.
“They’ve changed their style tune lately, and our designers LOVE the direction they’ve taken,” Melissa says. “Beautiful options, fair price points and those classic, known, comfortable furniture pieces, with a new fresh look and profile that so many of our clients are seeking these days.”
Runner-Up: McGee & Co. — For high-quality pieces that let anyone complete their own personal “Dream Home Makeover,” no appearance on the Netflix series required.
Best Small Business: Clare Paint
Would you rather…
- A: Visit the paint store to stare at paint chips under fluorescent lights.
- B: Stay in, order paint swatches from Clare and get your afternoon back.
It’s B, hands down. Clare is the clear winner for paint — and for the Havenly Design Award for Best Small Business.
Founded by interior designer and TV personality Nicole Gibbons, Clare takes the guesswork out of the painting process. Kiss the stress goodbye.
Runner-Up: Burrow — For carving out a sweet spot in the sofa category, for quality pieces that won’t have your wallet cringing.
