How many votes does it take to get to the center of a Design Madness Championship? 10,300 – that’s how many! We’re absolutely blown away by the response to our designer’s submissions, and we’re beyond excited to open the polls for our final round of voting. But before you cast your vote, take a moment to get to know the stellar designs and designers that made it to the Design Madness Championships: Eve K. and Brenthony W.
Brenthony W.
“When I began my design, I was listening to ‘Wild Horses’ by The Rolling Stones” – Brenthony W.
What was your inspiration for this masculine design?
I have always loved masculine styled interiors, so I knew that was the look and style I wanted to go into the competition with. I love to find eye catching pieces to build a room around. When I began my design I was listening to “Wild Horses by the Rolling Stones,” which lead me to find the beautiful horse painting from Z Gallerie. From there everything fluidly came together.
What was the design process like?
I wanted the viewer to be able to envision themselves reading or having a nice gathering with friends in this space. To create the study-like ambiance I incorporated natural lighting and shadows which was key in making the design appear realistic. Along with the lighting to set the scene, the different texture and finish combinations helped to create masculine yet elegant design with the use of gold finishes and rich leathers.
What’s your favorite item in the design?
The Douglas Chandelier because it not only draws the reader into the scene but gives the space a sense of richness.
How does it feel to have made it to the championship?
Absolutely amazing! To know that I have that much support for my design is humbling. I truly thank everyone who took the time out of their day just to vote for my design and shared such kind words.

“The palette inspiration actually came from my French Bulldog” – Eve K.
What was your inspiration for this eclectic design?
I wanted to create a living room I would love to live in. I’m absolutely inspired by color, I love it and am not afraid to use it. The palette inspiration actually came from my French Bulldog – while working on the design I realized that I had copied what she was wearing that day: a pink braided collar and a yellow and gray striped sweater. I added in the teal, a color I’ve been obsessed with lately, and I think the combination worked out pretty well.
What was the design process like?
I spent a lot of time on this design and definitely bothered my friends, designer and non-designer alike, multiple times for feedback. I always try to visualize the space before I start a design. I feel it helps to carry a little 3D model of the room in my head while I work.
What’s your favorite item in the design?
I’ve been obsessed with that coffee table since I worked as a designer in Boston years ago. It’s obscenely expensive but so gorgeous I had to use it.
What type of person do you envision living in the space?
This room is for someone chic, a bit bold, who appreciates color and something a little different. A person who wants their room to coordinate with their personality rather than a particular aesthetic or fad.
How does it feel to have made it to the championship?
Incredible!! My goal was to create a room that I loved, but I knew my tastes can sometimes veer towards the unique and avant-garde so I wasn’t expecting to get so much support. It’s been absolutely amazing!
