The Middle East’s most expensive chandelier was valued at $1.8 million dollars and was destroyed in August of 2011, when a teenager threw a shoe at it. When the kid’s shoe hit the chandelier (which, by the way, was casually situated at a shopping mall- the 360 Mall in Kuwait), the chandelier detached from the ceiling and shattered to the ground, in a scene reminiscent of something straight out of a C-team version of the Phantom of the Opera.

The Middle East's Most Expensive Chandelier Destroyed by Croc-Throwing Teenager

To add more salt to this expensive wound, the kid’s shoe was a Croc… yes, I said it, a Croc, or what is known as the most effective type of birth control (since no one will go near you when you’re wearing them):

Nobody knows why the kid was so mad at the chandelier. Maybe it was blinding his eyes? Maybe it was a political statement on excessive consumerism? Maybe he also thought it was ridiculous to have an expensive chandelier hanging out next to the Abercrombie and Fitch Kids at the mall? Maybe he was listening to a little bit too much Kanye West?

We here at Havenly aren’t quite sure.
