Moms Day (1)May 10th is a special day to appreciate the women that we love the most: our moms. They are our biggest supporters and have cheered us on through all of the important times in our lives. As Mother’s Day approaches, our team wanted to dedicate a special contribution to the women who made us who we are today. As we’re all about decor here at Havenly, here’s what we love and remember most about our mothers’ design styles:

emily and lee

“Our Mom’s style is international and somewhat eclectic–but the thing that we remember and love the most about her style, is she always made our house feel like a loving home.”

-Lee Mayer and Emily Motayed, Co-Founders

“My Mom decorated with contemporary pieces mixed with Asian accents and pale greens and blues. My mother’s home is always pulled together, yet super comfortable with original watercolor prints adorning the walls.”

-Jessie Dixon, COO

“What I love most about my mom’s decorating style is her ability to perfectly coordinate fabrics and colors, and her love of indoor plants and flowers.”

-Shelby Girard, Director of Design

CSM

“My mother’s penchant for classic, American style translated to decor, as she loved classic, preppy prints that pop, like striped pillows and bright accents. And, for our beach house, the woman never met a palm print she didn’t love—and I must admit I’ve followed suit.”

-Cori Sue Morris, Brand Activation Director

“My mom’s decorating style can best be described as “museum-like.” No matter what room you’re in, you’ll be able to find something with a unique story behind it. From candle holders, to vases, to her Swarovski crystal collection—her house is full of very interesting things.”

-Adam Greenbaum, Director of Digital Marketing

“My mom has always had a fantastic eye for interior design. As a former pillow designer, my mom’s style can be categorized as traditional with a Southwestern twist. She furbishes our family home with decadent antiques that have been collected throughout the years, all with their own unique story. It’s safe to say that my mom is my best friend and design mentor!”

-Mara Love, Marketing & Social Media Coordinator

“What I like most about my mom’s style is how unintentionally eclectic it is. There are mid-century items inherited from my grandfather, heirloom pieces, and a few particulars that managed to stick with the family through who knows how many moves. Lots of pottery and art created by my aunt…. even a cool clock one of my brothers made when I was a kid!  It may not be ‘photoshoot worthy’, but it has the personal touch that you don’t see in a magazine spread.”

-Ninnah Hart, Director of Engineering

“My parents spent a couple years in Africa before they had me. That time forever shaped my mom’s design sensibilities. I grew up surrounded by worldly design, which was very unique for a small town in Montana. My mom is awesome; I love you, Mom!”

-Gabe Hesse, CTO

“I would describe my mom’s style as cozy with contemporary touches. My mom always keeps her home’s style fresh by changing layouts and adding new accessories.  And I love her beautiful yard and garden. Every year she plants the prettiest flowers!”

-Amy Langa, Software Developer

“My mom’s style is all about family.  She has made their house a cozy home where family and friends are always welcome.  I would describe her esthetic as traditional with a touch of coastal, very comfortable and welcoming.”

-Susannah Wardlow, Customer Operations Manager

“What I love most about my mom’s design style is her fearlessness. She WILL do it! There was never a dull moment growing up because my mom was always reimagining a space in our house and adding amazing statement pieces. She will even knock walls down, add decks and patios, and have trees dropped into our yard.”

-Jacque Schaefer, Customer Operations Associate
