You may be acquainted with ArtTwo50 – original artwork consistently priced at $250 a pop (not bad!) available to consumers through an Ipad app. Well, the company has rebranded, revised their pricing structure, and re-launched their app with a brand spankin’ new version for the iPhone as well!
Just as cool or cooler than it was before (and even more accessible with pricing now at both the $100 and $250 mark!), the start-up now known as Vango serves as a virtual curator of art, recommending pieces that will work in a users space taking important elements such as budget, size, existing color palette in a room, and style preferences into consideration. You snap a photo of your space (with your iphone or ipad) and Vango helps identify awesome, original pieces of art that will work for you (and you get to preview it on your walls before you buy). Why the rebrand? “We wanted a new name that was catchy and didn’t box us in on price,” said Ethan Appleby, founder of Vango. “Given that we’re a marketplace, we were mashing up things that take two people (Tango) and key components of our app (Visualization). ‘Vango’ just came out and we loved the sound and energy.”
The site, app, and pricing may be different, but the mission remains the same– “(to make) the discovery of original art accessible and to support emerging artists to do what they love: create.”
