I’ve got fireplaces on the brain!  My husband, Greg, and I recently purchased a home with a lovely fireplace area in the front living room.  The stonework/mantle were dated– we had it removed immediately (perhaps prematurely?) along with some other work that was being done to the living room area.  Now, we have a demo’d fireplace…an ugly, blank, unfinished wall and no idea what direction to take with it next!

I’m really drawn to the contrast of black and white.  I always have been– it’s pretty much all I wear!  I really can’t kick the image of a black and white fireplace of some kind in this space.  Sleek and modern, moroccan-inspired, traditional woodwork, marble slabs….they all sound great to me (I’ll take any of them!).  Now, Greg is going take some convincing…so I’ve been collecting images to help support my case.  I’ve predictably been spending too much time on Pinterest and have come across the loveliest assortment of mantles and fireplaces in this color scheme.

I’m obsessed with the idea of using floor to ceiling black and white tile for our space….but the options I’ve found and loved are quite pricey.

This next one by the awesome Bailey McCarthy (who just reopened her Houston store Biscuit in a brand new location!)– I just can’t ogle over enough.  How perfect are the mirrors flanking this traditional yet personalized black and white fireplace?

My very favorite for our space is the one that follows by Suzanne Kasler.  Unfortunately, our fireplace is not wide enough to accommodate this particular design….though we might embrace some sort of adaptation.

Do any of the above speak to you?  I’m clearly torn– but will keep you updated re what we decide to do (in fact I’ll probably ask for your help!).
