If you know Havenly, you know one thing is true: we love a perfect combination of function and form. So of course, sleeper sofas and daybeds are high on our list of favorite furniture! Whether you’re using one as a comfortable reading spot or extra sleeping space for guests, the convenience of having a seat and bed all in one stylish package is clutch.

And if any images of dated pull-out couches and shapeless futons are coming to mind, rest assured. There are now so many chic options on the market that don’t look like a scene from That ‘70s Show basement.

Havenly lead designer Vivian Torres has done the scouting legwork and is sharing her top 10 daybeds and sleeper sofas. Be prepared to add to your Pinterest wish lists.

10. Katina Sleeper Chair

Not everyone has the extra square footage to spare when searching for a new sofa, especially if opening into a bed requires even more space. That’s why Torres loves this Katina Sleeper Chair from Anthropologie, seen here in a soft shade of lilac (but coming in a variety of elegant colors). “If you’re working with small dimensions but you don’t want to sacrifice the additional sleep space, consider downsizing to a twin chair. This refined, lounge-worthy and fully handcrafted chair delivers a comfortable pull-out twin bed in a compact and stylish package. It’s a great option for a teen or kids bedroom lounge.” We’d sleep over there.

9. Pacific Daybed

This daybed from Crate & Barrel says “chic,” “funky,” and “statement piece,” all at the same time. Plus, this might just be the most customizable daybed you’ve ever seen! Choose from an extremely wide array of colors and patterns and mix and match to your heart’s (and aesthetics) desire. “This Crate & Barrel exclusive is as stylish as it gets. Featuring a slim and low profile it’s one of the most on-trend options on this list, and it’s highly customizable making it a great option for any style. I love the idea of upholstering it in a patterned fabric to balance out it’s simple yet sophisticated aesthetic.”

8. Harris Daybed

Fitting right into a modern minimalist aesthetic is the Harris Daybed—streamlined, elegant, comfortable (checks all the boxes). “I love this as an alternative to a traditional sofa, with it’s fresh take on the double-arm silhouette and the reduced footprint that plays well in small spaces. This is one of those ‘goes with any style’ pieces.”

7. Una Ivory Boucle Sleeper Sofa

Speaking of modern minimalist, this boucle sleeper sofa from CB2 makes Torres’ list because it’s super easy to transform from one version to the other, and is simply put, super fun. “This is technically an updated and way more stylish version of the convertible sleeper sofa or futon that was popular in the ‘90s. Featuring a modern frame and finish and luxe, ivory boucle fabric, it’s sure to look good in just about any room.”

6. Axel Full Leather Futon

Continuing on the futon-reinvented path, Vivian had to include this West Elm leather number in a striking auburn hue (plus other colors if you’re interested). It’s definitely easy for us to imagine lounging on this with a good book in the afternoon sun or cozying up for a post-movie-night slumber. “This sofa by day and full-size sleeper by night offers a clean, contemporary design that’s easy to fold up and down and available in a variety of leather fabrics. Consider it the futon’s more stylish cousin.”

5. Soma Midnight Blue Sofa Bed

If you’re looking for something with a little more cushion, this sofa bed from Article should do just the trick. Plus, it’s conveniently sized for smaller spaces and as comfy as sofa beds get. “I love this sofa’s slim profile—at 82” W it can seat 2-3 people without overpowering the room. It also features a memory foam mattress so your guests will wake up well-rested and refreshed, no back cramps. I’m partial to Midnight Blue for a luxe metropolitan look.”

4. Elliot Sleeper Sofa

Who doesn’t love a fantastic forest green? Well, if you don’t, don’t worry: the Elliot Sleeper Sofa comes in all the colors of the wind that make our hearts sing (daisy yellow, regal teal, delicate blush, swoon). It’s also kind of the perfect balance of sofa and pull-out couch in terms of design and functionality. “Just read the reviews and you’ll figure out quickly why this sofa is a fan favorite. Its retro silhouette, sleek arms, and classic tufting makes it a statement piece. Not to mention, customization at an affordable price point is always a yes in my book.”

3. Magritte Sleeper Sofa

When we look at this sleeper sofa, the words “crisp,” “clean,” and “chic,” immediately come to mind. While we love this bright white, again, the color options are numerous here. “This sofa has a tailored vibe alongside a modern bench seat that’s convenient enough for everyday life—no messy pillows to worry about! It’s also super, super comfy (just check out the ‘air cushion layer’).”

2. Buchanan Deluxe Sleeper Sofa

You know that feeling in a furniture store where you see the most comfortable-looking sofa or bed and you just have to sit in it to confirm that yes, it is an upholstered cloud? Enter: the Buchanan Sleeper Sofa. “I love the contemporary design and ultimate comfort this three-seater sleeper sofa provides. With its extra-deep seats, it’s one of the most comfortable and lounge-worthy options on this list. Plus, it’s like the Mary Poppins of sleeper sofas, with a  mattress that is actually two inches longer than average, but an innovative design that magically saves floor space. A great option if you’re limited on square feet but don’t want to sacrifice comfort.”

1. Marin Sleeper Sofa

Taking the cake (though we really do love every piece on this list!) is this Marin Sleeper Sofa from West Elm. With a traditional look that can blend easily into any aesthetic, this sofa has everything you look for in a pull-out couch: the comfort and sturdiness of a sofa, a clean and customizable design, and the plush functionality of a superior mattress (cue: good night’s sleep). “This piece is clean and modern, but still feels classic and a touch formal, making it a go-to for a multitude of styles, from Cali-Cool to Parisian Modern. Don’t let its beautifully crafted and tailored exterior fool you though; it surprisingly features a gel foam mattress to keep guests cool, supported, and rested through the night. No morning grumpiness allowed.”
