When actress Richa Moorjani moved into her Pasadena, California condo two years ago, she purposely created a blank slate. “I bought several furniture items, like the couch, all in neutral colors,” says the Never Have I Ever star. “Then came the fun part with Havenly — adding my personality to the space and making it feel like home.”

Richa worked with Havenly lead designer Kelsey Fischer to do just that, adding color, warmth, and nods to her South Asian culture in the 1,400-square-foot space. “The neutral space was a great starting point,” adds Kelsey. “But she really wanted to bring in some bold pops of color and textures to keep it from feeling too stark or modern.”

With thoughtfully-selected accent pieces, pops of natural texture, and a curated gallery wall with thrifted and vintage-inspired finds, the two managed to infuse character and vibrancy into the ultra-modern condo. Step inside Richa’s new LA abode below.

Keeping it laid back

The first order of business? Creating an ultra relaxing, laid-back atmosphere where Richa could truly unwind. “When I’m not shooting or on a red carpet, I’m always in comfy clothes — I spend a lot of time on my couch, to be honest!” she notes. “I also use my living room for my self-care practices like stretching, meditation, and journaling, and really wanted to create my own little haven.”

To nail that zen atmosphere, Kelsey brought in airy curtains, touches of wicker and rattan, gold accents, and pops of bright color that liven up the overall neutral palette. “Richa’s personal style is fresh and energetic, but grounded in organic textures and a sense of serenity,” adds Kelsey. “I wanted to mirror that with this design.”

In the primary bedroom, Kelsey sought to complement the living room design while still creating a distinct atmosphere. “We kept the overall color palette light and airy, but added character with subtle accent wallpaper, textured artwork, and terra cotta bedding,” she explains.

Finished with duo woven pendant lights and animal print throw pillows, the finished bedroom channels a hip boutique hotel. “I love how unique my space is,” adds Richa. “It’s hard for me to describe the style, because I don’t think it fits into any box.”

Creating a Forever Home

Thanks to their creative collaboration, Kelsey and Richa managed to design a home that feels truly personal for the actress. “I was out of town for a couple of months on a shoot recently, and when I came home, I immediately felt like it was my space that no hotel in the world could ever emulate,” she notes. “Everyone who comes over to our place always tells me that they immediately feel really positive energy, and that’s exactly what I wanted to cultivate through the design process.”
