Mirrors may seem like one of the easier design elements to simply throw into a room, but are you really considering what the perfect mirror for your space is? The seemingly subtle differences between oval and rectangle shapes or simple versus ornate frames can make a huge difference in your aesthetic! Luckily, design expert Melissa Wagner is offering some seriously helpful tips so you can find the perfect mirror for your unique style.

A Simpler Way to Style

For those constantly chasing ultimate modern vibes, we present this effectively simple, oversized round mirror. “It’s oversized and understated and works anywhere in your home,” says Wagner. “Above a dresser, in an entryway, or above a buffet in the dining room.” Sometimes, the simplest decor can add the most value to a room.

Similar in concept but more appropriate for a classic or contemporary style is this Polen full-length mirror. “This mirror keeps a low profile with its clean lines and arch shape, adding interest to the standard, rectangular leaning mirror.”

For the more specific, Parisian modern look, this ornate Primrose mirror is simply everything. “With its ornamental, gilded brass, this is the perfect statement piece for above your fireplace mantle.” Simplicity and complexity intertwine for a few perfect moments in this piece that’s sure to captivate any guest—or just you, since you won’t be able to take your eyes off it.

Add Flair to your Defined Aesthetic

Suppose you’ve got the basics of your style vibe down; now, you need to add a mirror that perfectly complements your space but has some flair of its own. We’re thinking: some texture, a touch of color, and always a dash of fun.

“So on-trend, rattan mirrors can go with nearly any style at the moment: Cali Cool, Eclectic, Farmhouse, and Classic!” Wagner’s favorite rattan mirrors right now? This wrapped wall mirror and this Tahiti rattan mirror—one a little lighter in shade and one a bit darker, depending on the look you’re trying to achieve!

For a good halfway point between simple and super-styled, this bronze and gold round wall mirror is perfect for classic, transitional, and traditional styles. “Mixing metals is a very of-the-moment trend, but the style of this mirror fits perfectly into traditional and transitional spaces.”

Going Above and Beyond

Sometimes, your mirror needs to be the statement piece of the room, not just a complement. Wagner has some top-tier suggestions for the perfect stand-out mirror for any space.

If you’ve got a Boho or Desert Modern vibe, for example, this Evora cane mirror is exactly the “wow” factor piece you need. “Easy but chic—we love how this natural element adds an organic and earthy touch to a boho space.”

Or, for something that speaks more to an eclectic style, consider this Paola mirror from Roam Common. “With warm wood and ornamental details, this piece can work in nearly any space of collected and curated items.” The intricacy of this hand-carved frame adds texture and depth for a truly eye-catching mirror in an already vibrant space.

Of course, we know that the Mid-Century Modern style isn’t going anywhere, so Wagner suggests this mirror set we know you’ll love. “Nothing says Mid-Century Modern more than walnut. Get your 50s, 60s, or even the on-trend throwback to the 70s, on with this set of three walnut framed mirrors.”

And don’t think we forgot about the kids’ rooms. This fringe cloud mirror is “whimsical and beautiful, but doesn’t scream ‘baby’s room.’” We love a soft-yet-awe-inspiring piece!
