When it comes to updating and renovating a space, kitchens always rank near the top. This functional, heart-of-the-home space is arguably one of the most important rooms in any home, and therefore deserves all the design love (and then some).

Of course, one of our favorite ways to refresh a space without breaking the bank is a fresh paint job. While painting cabinetry can get a little more expensive than painting walls, this design update is still incredibly affordable and effective. Your chosen hue can change the entire mood and atmosphere of your home, from moody and dramatic to serene and light.

Enter Living Cozy’s 2024 paint trends report. Based on worldwide data from Google Trends over the last 12 months, kitchens placed number-one in terms of the most popular rooms to redecorate (with a total of 6.6 million searches). More specifically, people are fervently searching for kitchen paint color ideas.

The brand ultimately found that white is the most popular kitchen paint color worldwide for 2024, with a total of 889,500 Google searches for “white kitchen” over the last twelve months. “Green kitchen” came in a close second with 728,500 searches, followed by blue at 715,200 searches.

“Classic white is still the most popular color for kitchens, always looking clean, light and open,” reads the report. “With white kitchens, there’s never a risk of looking dated in a few years, while the sleek minimalistic feel is effortlessly complemented by dark counters or contrasting kitchen accessories.”

While we agree that a white kitchen is timeless, we are a bit surprised that the clean neutral still reigns supreme in 2024 — especially considering the resurgence of more bold, maximalist design (exhibit A: the kitschy kitchens trend on Pinterest). We’ve seen a marked departure away from minimalism across the board, and would have expected green or blue to take the number-one spot.

To pull off the all-white kitchen look, we recommend adding plenty of warmth via brass hardware, rich wood tones, and natural materials like rattan, linen, cane, and beyond. Pepper in texture via velvet or bouclé upholstery (preferably performance), and finish the look with plenty of fresh flowers. This mix of textured and sleek; warm and cool adds a more layered and lived-in feel.
