Although you wouldn’t always guess it, sometimes the hardest design challenges we face in our home aren’t about the empty spaces. Sometimes the hardest part about interior design is making existing pieces flow and work together in order to create a cohesive space that really feels like home. Buying furniture is an investment, but it’s also something that’s hard to plan all at once and often happens over time. So what do you do when you’ve bought a few things, but they just aren’t creating the vibe you want? What happens when you’ve already spent the money, but the end result seems to be missing the mark?
This was the challenge facing Havenly designer Ashley N., when a client came to her seeking to transform her sitting room. The client had great bones for the existing space, including a chair from ZGallerie, a loveseat from Restoration Hardware, and a gold lamp from Wayfair. Unfortunately, the space wasn’t translating into the contemporary glam look the client was
hoping for.
So when a client is looking for that wow factor in their space, how do you take a room from “boring” to “something out of a magazine” using existing pieces? Using the information from her client’s style quiz results, Ashley incorporated bright colors, some sweet florals, and a hint of patterns to bring the room to life. Finally, her use of textured throw pillows gave the couch dimension, while her suggestion of a cool blue paint color and navy accents kept the room from being overwhelmed by magenta.
The result is a space that’s one of a kind – the perfect mixture of eclectic contemporary glam that you might see in a style magazine or a celebrity style feature. We love how Ashley was able to bring together everything the client loved about her old space, into something new and transformative to really deliver on the wow factor that her client was looking for. If you love this look that Ashley created, you can shop this exact design and recreate the look in your home. After all, why live in a home that continues to underwhelm you?
