Just as Rachel Zoe was moving into a new Los Angeles house, the fashion designer and entrepreneur was signing a deal for a partnership between her luxury curation brand, Curateur, and Havenly. The timing was all but kismet for her to try out our interior design platform for herself, so she decided to tackle her guest bedroom with our very own VP of Creative and Design, Shelby Girard.
Zoe wanted to create a cozy chic space for hosting family and friends that would match the effortlessly elegant style in the other parts of the home. Luckily, the room already had dramatic vaulted ceilings, which Girard accentuated with a luxurious statement canopy bed. “We went with a four poster bed frame, which I love and typically have in most bedrooms,” Zoe explains. “It becomes the foundation of the room and everything else revolves around it.”
A smattering of black, white, and brass pieces — from zebra print throw pillows and thick linen curtains to a furry black rug and boucle accent chairs — complete the look. “I’m so happy with it!” exclaims Zoe. “It feels consistent with the decor in the rest of my house: very glamorous and luxe, but still very inviting and comfortable for guests.”
The most personal element (and the only pop of color!) is a beautiful painting of a bird perched on a log floating in the ocean. “My parents are art collectors, so over the years I have been gifted incredible pieces from them,” details Zoe. “This piece is special to me, as it reminds me of our Hamptons house.”
Zoe’s parents were not only responsible for the gorgeous artwork, but also served as a source of inspiration for the room overall. They were the very first guests to enjoy a stay, too. “Due to Covid, we had not seen them in over a year, so it was super special to have them come out when regulations allowed for them to travel,” Zoe recounts. “I really wanted to make sure the room was comfortable and luxurious for them.” It certainly is.

“My friends, family, and our new puppy Goldie Sunshine.”
Favorite piece in your home right now?
“The view! We moved into the house not too long ago and one of the things I love most about it is seeing the Los Angeles skyline. We sit outside and have dinner and swim and enjoy the magic of it all.”
Nightstand essentials?
“Aquaphor! It has become a staple in my daily routine. I am constantly putting it on my kids or myself.”
Satin robe, fur slippers, or… what is the perfect accessory for this room?
“Robe!”
Face mask, wine, design book, or… What’s your go-to rest ritual?
“Long phone calls with my sister or mom. They are my go-to support for everything… A glass of vino at the end of the day works magic too.”
