You heard it here first: 2025 is all about color, pattern, and personality, and white walls aren’t exactly fitting the bill. While we’ll absolutely never retire our favorite white paint colors (there will always be a room just begging for a crisp coat of white paint), amateur and expert designers alike are experimenting with more and more color as the pendulum swings back towards more eclectic, traditional design.
“Color is really having a moment — white walls are no longer the automatic default when designing a home,” says Havenly Director of Design & Content Heather Goerzen. According to Goerzen and our design team, 2025 is all about earth-toned paint colors that are equal parts rich and understated. From evergreen and olive to dusty mauve and midnight blue, these trending colors are subtle enough to function as neutrals, but still imbue a space with character and personality.
Ahead, see the six colors our design team is backing for the year ahead, and consider swatching something other than white next time you pick up a paint brush.
1. 2025 Paint Color Trends: Mauve & Pink
Move over, millennial pink — 2025 is all about earthy shades of pink and mauve, whether you’re decorating a home office or a kids room. Colors like Farrow & Ball’s Templeton Pink feel cozy and down to earth, as opposed to overly saccharine and cutesy.
2. 2025 Paint Color Trends: Earthy Blues
Of course, navy blue will never go out of style. But there’s something about inky blue-gray that feels particularly chic for 2025. Paint colors like Benjamin Moore’s Narragansett Green and Stonecutter feel saturated and moody, but can still function as a palatable neutral in any room. We particularly love this color direction for bathrooms, offices, and TV rooms.
3. 2025 Paint Color Trends: Moody Grays
We said it once, and we’ll say it again: gray is making a comeback. But not your standard 2010 cool, dreary gray that we’ve come to hate — we’re talking warm-toned, mink-y grays that feel luxe and unexpected. Not on board? Try Farrow & Ball’s Charleston Gray or Stoke and get back to us.
4. 2025 Paint Color Trends: Shades of Green
We know that green feels a bit “been there, done that,” but it’s just such a classic, versatile paint color that we can’t nix it from this list. From sage and moss to evergreen, olive, and hunter, this elegant shade is top-tier when it comes to earthy yet full-bodied paint colors. It works in a living room, TV room, kitchen, bedroom — the list goes on.
5. 2025 Paint Color Trends: Tan & Cream
Clinging to your gallon of white paint for dear life? Consider something slightly warmer and more saturated this year, like tan, beige, or cream. Colors like Farrow & Ball’s Skimming Stone or Benjamin Moore’s Manchester Tan offer just the right amount of dimension and warmth without going overboard.
6. 2025 Paint Color Trends: Yellow Hues
We’re obsessed with yellow kitchens for 2025, but we have to say, we think the color would look beautiful in pretty much any room. From Hay by Farrow & Ball to Concord Ivory by Benjamin Moore, there are endless choices in the yellow color family to suit any style or space. We love that it feels retro, but still modern.
